親父の蔵書 ― 2013/12/10

　親父が亡くなって３５年以上経つがその間、蔵書の処分に頭を悩ませていた。蔵書のほとんどは古代史に関るもので、市の図書館が増築されたので、蔵書のスペースも増えたと思い寄贈を申し入れたが、門前払いに近かった。市内の古書店に持って行っても古紙として処分されるだけ。駄目元で考古学の某教授に下記の写真を見せた。


　以外にも欲しい本があるということで先日、取りに来てもらった。半分でも持って行って貰えれば万々歳と思っていたのに、写真のほぼ全てと更にこの半分程度の図書を引き取ってもらった。私にとっては猫に小判でしたが、先生は掘り出し物を掘り当てた様に喜んで頂けました。私も父の蔵書を活用して頂ける方に出会えて、父に顔向け出来ます。

　お礼として掘り出し物の球磨焼酎を頂きました。絶版となった幻の焼酎だそうです。


　容器は先生が発掘に携わった免田式土器を模したもの。こりゃおいそれと開ける訳にはいかない。暫くは仏壇に供えて置きます。

突然すいません。本は本人にとっては大切な宝物ですが、興味のない人にとってはゴミ同然です。でも価値をわかる人にとってはお宝もの、貴重な資料です。歴史的にも文献として大切に受け継がれれば、供養になります。出会いは大切ですね。

父の蔵書はその道の人にとっては価値のある物であることは解ってはいましたが、４０年以上の前の図書となると過去の学説で使い物にならないかも知れない不安がありました。
価値を理解し活用してくれる人に出会えた事は３５年待ったかいがありました。
